What we look after in Bebington, Bromborough, Port Sunlight and Eastham

From a company year end to a rental return, with the figures explained to you before anything is filed.

Four stops, no change of train

Bebington is four stops up the line from the office, with no change of train, so a year-end meeting, a stock valuation talked through properly or a payroll handover can be fitted into a morning without anyone giving up a day. Most of the work needs no visit at all: we use Xero and Hubdoc, and records can be sent from wherever suits you.

How it works

Getting started

1

Book a free call

Tell us what the business makes, moves or lets, and what is coming up: a year-end with stock to value, a first employee on a rota, a VAT registration, a house being sold. The call costs nothing, and by the end of it you will know which of those actually needs doing and when.

2

Receive a fixed-fee proposal

The proposal names the work and the price before any of it starts: a fixed monthly figure for a company with payroll and VAT to run, or a single fixed price for a one-off job such as a tax return or a set of rental accounts. There are no hourly rates and no bill at the end for time spent.

3

We take it from there

Taking over part-way through a year is normal here, mid-rota included. We agree a cut-off pay date with your present adviser, carry the year-to-date figures across so nobody's tax code or pension contributions jump, and pick up the VAT quarter already running. Clearance letters, HMRC authorisations and software access are our work, not yours.

FAQ

Questions we are asked

How long is the train from Bebington to your office?
Eight to eleven minutes to Birkenhead Hamilton Square, four stops, with no change of train, and the office is a minute's walk from the station. Both the Chester and the Ellesmere Port services use this line as far as Hooton, so trains run frequently through Bebington through the day. Bebington station is staffed, has step-free access to both platforms through the subway, and has 24 parking spaces including two Blue Badge bays. Check the timetable before you travel.
Where is the best place to park if I drive part of the way?
Hooton has much the largest car park on this line, 418 spaces including 29 accessible, and Eastham Rake comes next with 101 including four. Spital has 132 spaces but no step-free route to its platforms, so for a wheelchair or a pushchair Bebington or Eastham Rake is the better place to start. If you drive the whole way, parking at our end is on-street pay and display inside Wirral Council's central Birkenhead controlled parking zone, paid by card or phone rather than cash, and the current tariffs are on the council's website.
You are in Birkenhead rather than Bebington. Can I call in on the way to work?
Yes. Our office is at Second Floor, 61 Hamilton Square, Birkenhead CH41 5AT. Hamilton Square is the last station on this side of the river, so it is on the way in for anyone commuting to Liverpool, and the office is a minute from the entrance. Meetings are by arrangement rather than drop-in, so telephone or email first and we will fix a time that fits the train.
I let a house in Port Sunlight. Which costs come off the rent, and which wait until I sell?
Work that puts the house back as it was is a repair and comes off the year's rental profit: HMRC accepts that replacing part of a property with its nearest modern equivalent, a single-glazed window with double glazing for example, is still a repair, though in a listed house what you may fit can be decided for you. Adding something that was not there, or upgrading to a noticeably higher standard, is capital, and reduces the gain when you sell instead. Nearly every building in Port Sunlight village is Grade II listed, so settle the treatment of a planned job before it is ordered.
We are putting our first shift workers on the payroll. What has to be in place before the first payday?
A PAYE scheme with HMRC, a pay cycle you can keep to, and a workplace pension arrangement for those who qualify. Each pay run is reported to HMRC on or before the day people are paid, which bites harder on a rota than on salaries: overtime signed off late, a shift swapped at the weekend or a leaver paid off early all have to be in the submission for that date rather than corrected afterwards. Holiday pay for irregular hours is worked out separately from the basic rate, and we settle the method before the first run rather than unpicking it at the year-end.
