FAQ

Common questions

When are my annual accounts due?
Accounts must reach Companies House within nine months of your year-end, and your corporation tax return within twelve months. We work to our own earlier timetable, so your accounts are typically finished and filed well before either deadline.
What do you need from me to prepare them?
Your bank data, sales invoices, purchase receipts and details of anything unusual during the year. If you are on Xero and Hubdoc most of this reaches us automatically, so in practice we ask you for very little.
My bookkeeping is behind. Can you still help?
Yes, and it is more common than you might think. We will bring the records up to date as part of the job and then keep them current, so next year-end is straightforward rather than a scramble.
Will my company need an audit?
Most small companies are exempt. Broadly, a company qualifies while it meets at least two of the three small company limits for turnover, balance sheet total and average number of employees. We will tell you clearly if you are approaching the point where an audit becomes necessary.
What happens if accounts are filed late?
Companies House issues automatic penalties that escalate the longer accounts are outstanding, and persistent lateness can lead to further action. Filing early is the simplest way to avoid all of it, which is exactly how we work.
