Common questions

Do I have to verify my identity?
Yes. Under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, every director and person with significant control must verify their identity with Companies House. It is a legal requirement, not an optional extra.
Can I just do it myself for free?
You can, through GOV.UK One Login, and we will always tell you that openly. Our service is for people who would rather it was simply handled correctly first time, particularly where several directors or PSCs need verifying together.
How long does verification take?
The check itself is short: an online identity check with a real-time liveness step. Once your verification is confirmed to Companies House, your personal code is sent to the email address provided for you.
I am an overseas director without UK ID. Is that a problem?
No. We verify overseas directors regularly and non-UK identity documents are not an obstacle, which is one of the main reasons people come to an authorised ACSP rather than doing it themselves.
What if my identity check fails?
You do not pay unless your check passes, and your fee includes one free re-take. If a third check is ever needed, it costs £36 including VAT.
